SF diary day 2: And all the company of the world
I believe that I haven't been tired like this in very long time. I also believe I haven't put so much effort in school god knows how long. And when I say effort I mean waking up early. It was first official day of this study trip, day when we visited Facebook and Google in Silicon valley. Also the day when we were supposed to meet at 8.15.

Surprisingly it works and 27 people really met at that time and successfully arrived to Facebook as it was our first host. And we met our tour guide. As much as April seemed very nice, she was one of the american where you don't really know whether they are really nice or really fake. Or maybe both, who knows.
She was showing us mainly outside of the campus in Facebook. As much as I like it, it seemed as showing of "what do we have here". Don't get me wrong all the restaurant with free food are really nice, all the gyms and arcade as well and it is great that they let us try this, but I thought that we are there to talk to people who actually create things here. Or as I know them from my everyday life on Facebook: people who try to hurt me by constantly changing everything.
And yes we did that but after hour and half of our tour when there was no gym or restaurant left to show. We meet four people responsible for design and interface of Facebook so probably one of those who are responsible for our everyday pain in finding something that we once saw on this or that timeline.
Most of my schoolmate were mainly interested about how to get job in Facebook. After that tour I kind of think that main reason was the free food and gyms. Anyway I really appreciate that this "fantastic four" find some time for us cause they seemed more normal and humble than our tour guide. Mostly they talk about their work and how did they get there, Time for question 15 minutes. So overall we spend in Facebook about 2 hours, and only 30 minutes with people who actually works there. Which I'm sorry, it isn't enough. But still great that we had time for that.
Next stop Google. Or so we thought. But teachers had surprise for us in form of really weird tourism, When I say weird I mean the fact that we stopped at the garage where Hewlett Packard started. The thing is that there are still people living at that house. Seriously how would you feel if 20ish people get of the bus right next to your garden and just take photo of your garage just because two dudes started there their company long, long time ago? Probably not nice.
We also drive very slowly around the house of Steve Jobs, but thankfully no one get of cause we didn't have time for that again.
And finally after filling our stomachs by the worst things that you can find in parking lot - McDonald - we arrived to Google. The campus seemed to be twice as big as Facebook's and most of people seemed to be Asian. (I'm not being racist, just saying). Our three tour guides were as well. We were welcomed by three women who works on kids product in Google. First thing they did was presentation about their work and designing in Google. Also how to get there. And sure they showed us all the cool stuff like where they work and where they play but that was after we get to know this so finally something useful even though it seemed like not so cool work place comparing to Facebook.

And then finally dinner! I have never eaten anything Mongolian but it seems like I will need to visit that country just once so I can eat their food. We went to hot pot restaurant, so we get this huge soup bowl and eat from it. As much as I like European cuisine this was the best ending of the day possible.
